PANORAMIC VIEW - SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING,KUALA LUMPUR This panorama shot was taken at 11am on the 26th Dec 2000 near Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square), where Malaysia itself was historically declared as a nation. Here is also located the very famous Sultan Abdul Samad building, which is one of Malaysia's most photographed edifice. It's the brown colored building with the Moorish-inspired architecture in the background. In this panorama, you can also see the world's tallest flagpole (and flying the Malaysian flag, of course), marking the spot where Malaysia was declared as a independent nation after 150 years of British rule. As a remnant of British rule, you can see the black-and-white Tudor-framed structure of the old Selangor Turf Club Building, which was started by the British as an exclusive club. The sport of Cricket is still played on the field. As a trivia, you may see the words "MERDEKA" on a white facade. MERDEKA means INDEPENDENCE. [ Please wait for Java applets and image to load.
