PANORAMIC VIEW - THE FAMOUS PETALING STREET, KUALA LUMPUR This panorama shot was taken at 1 pm in the afternoon on the 2nd Aug 2000 at the crossroad junctions of Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. You will see the "Lo Han Kuo drink" stall (the stall with the huge black water container), fruit stalls (play the audio clip - you will hear them yelling & selling!), and of course, the "duplicate watches" stalls selling imitation Rolexes at RM50. You will also find many roadside stalls selling local entertainment stuff such as cartoonbooks, and compact discs(CDs). The local pop and traditional hits are played blaring at maximum volume amidst the vehicle traffic to entice the masses. [see example products] Times they are a changing, too - note a new Coffee Bean outlet...this shop used to be an old Chinese coffee shop (called "Chin Dong") or "kopitiam" with the reputation of serving the best Chinese roast coffee in Kuala Lumpur in the good old days.
