Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Oct 94 - Mar 97) � Manager, Business Planning and Technology StrategyRole: Business and technology planning in corporate management for new 2nd national telephone company the equivalent to Optus in Malaysia. Was part of the pioneering group of employees in the start-up of a telecommunications carrier the equivalent to Optus in Malaysia. TIMEdotCom (ref. www.TIME.com.my) was listed on the Main Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) in 2001. Established the technology strategy plans and completely revamped the original business forecast financial models done by external consultants. The much more sophisticated and realistic revenue forecasts, which showed original projections to be overly optimistic by 70%, provided crucial input to the Board of Directors. It was used as the basis for company wide business planning process across divisions. My forecasts were proved effectively accurate by actual sales figure in later years. Took on extra job responsibilities to manage a team of 8 business development analysts looking into business cases for new strategic telecommunication projects such as the sharing of mobile phone towers by multiple operators, digital cable TV joint ventures and new property development service deployments. Key technical roles in new product conceptualization, system design and customer support. Worked over 2 years on a major tender bid to supply new generation of SDH fibre optic transmission systems (A$250 million contract value) to Telstra. Became the resident expert for new NEC SDH equipment in Australia for liaison between Telstra and NEC Japan that later led to my promotion to Senior Design Engineer. Co-conceptualized and tendered NEC�s ADSL Broadband Video-On-Demand Pay TV system that successfully won the Telstra development contract worth A$13m. This later led to the setup of the now large Broadband Division in NEC Australia that currently supplies ADSL equipment for Telstra�s Bigpond broadband internet service. 10.
