Now that we�ve touched slightly upon lovers etc, let�s take a hike to Kings Cross � Sydney�s centre for sleaze. Sydnesiders seem proud of the red-light district of Kings Cross, which has its fair share of hookers, strip joints and adult bookshops. The �Cross� was in the 1920s was Sydney�s bohemian mecca, but the Vietnam war and the drug boom turned it into the city�s sleazy red-light strip. The recent addition of a horde of backpackers� hostels has hardly lifted the �atmosphere�. However, there are also lots of places to eat and drink and plenty of shops for the local community who live there, or more likely work there. (hmmm)
