Henbury Meteorite Craters, Sturt Highway, Northern Territories

The Henbury Meteorite Craters are located of a dirt road off the Sturt Highway about 150km south of Alice Springs. This crater seen here was formed by the impact of a meteorite which split up into a splinter the size the size of only a fuel drum..which caused this hole ! So you can just about imagine the impact when it crashed here 5000 years ago and created this crater which measures 180metres across and 15 metres deep. A bloody big bang, mate !
