The Hanging Rock Reserve is located in the scenic Macedon Ranges, about 80 km north west of Melbourne. It is a rare geographical formation formed out of the core of a volcano over millions of years. Now, visitors can experience the mystery and beauty of �the Rock� by exploring along the number of paths and trails. Kids love it ! Made famous by a novel and movie (� A Picnic at Hanging Rock�), it is one of Australia�s most famous and picturesque picnic spots, with barbeque and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy the view. The Reserve abounds with wildlife including koalas, kangaroos and wallabies and is home to nearly forty species of birds.
