The place to meet - Federation Square

This panorama was taken at Federation Square in Melbourne, on the first day of winter 2004. Federation Square is the new meeting point for events in the central business district of Melbourne. The unique architecture of the buildings is a love-hate controversy. Either you love it or...vice versa. It houses art galleries, restaurants and shops. The square is also a place where rallies are held. This is a democracy. You also get to go on big media screen as the live TV camera points onto the square.

In this panorama, you can also see across the street, Flinders St train station. The Yarra River is just 50m away too, behind the bushes. The Rialto Towers, tallest building in the southern hemisphere, looms over as the backdrop over the city. Nice.
