Didgeridoo A beginners guide by Alastair Black
This small paperback (16 pages) describes the technique for playing this hollowed out instrument which is usually made out of wood. It covers the 5 primary ways of producing sounds and discusses circular breathing.
To Alastair, playing the didgeridoo was a natural extension since he has a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture. He was born in New Guinea in 1950 and spent his formative years in multicultural environments in New Guinea and on a farming property near the Aboriginal reserve of Point Pearce. He has performed for the Dalai Lama, Burnum Burnum (well known local Aboriginal leader), Rolf Harris and taught saxophonist Michael Brecker.
