Darling Harbour is no longer quite a harbour but is an entertainment and convention mecca par excellence! It used to be the back door to Sydney being where most trading ships docked. Like so many docklands of its kind around the world, it eventually lost its seafaring commercial functions but is now enjoying a vigorous new lease of life as a tourist center, with major exhibition and entertainment facilities.
The Harbour is an exciting place an extraordinary medley of old and new. There is the splendid Sydney Aquarium, the IMAX Theartre, a virtual-reality Sega World center, the Chinese Garden, the Maritime Museum Exhibition Centre, the Harbourside complex, the new Cockle Bay Wharf dining precinct, Sydney Exhibition Centre, the Star City casino complex etc etc etc to name a few. Not to mention all the posh 5 star hotelsPure glitz here, mate! You cannot be feel further away from the bush here.
To the east are glittering office towers, with expanse of water and pavement framing some of the citys most stimulating new buildings.
