Coorong, in the Aboriginal language (karangh) means "narrow neck". Located to the southeast of Adelaide, around the mouth of the Murray River, lies an indefineable maze of sandbanks and estuaries. A haven for fowls and pelicans watching! For thousands of years, the Aborigines lived here, netting fish in the lagoons, collecting cockles on the beach and fashioning reeds for rafts and baskets. The spirit of the Coorong was well captured in the 1976 film Storm Boy. [ Please wait for Java applets and image to load. Click with left mouse button to stop motion.
