This small paperback (28 pages) describes the origins and various types of boomerangs. Throwing and catching techniques are described together with a list of Boomerang associations around the world.
The origins of a throwing stick are known in Egypt and parts of South America but it was the Australian Aborigine who created a wide variety of boomerangs as we know today. The worlds oldest boomerang was discovered in a peat bog near Millicent in South Australia in 1975. Its age was thought to be between 8,000 to 10,000 years old. Boomerangs especially the returning type were mainly used for sport, amusement and the display of a throwers skill.
