Birrarung Marr is Melbourne's first major central city park in more than 100 years. Birrarung means "river of mists" in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people who originally inhabited the area. Marr relates to the side of the river.
The park is also the site for the Federation Bells - a series of bells which are computer-controlled and played on the lawn itself.
