Beechworth, Victoria - old gold mining town

This shot was taken from the corner of Camp and Loch Streets outside the Post Office. Beechworth (discovered in 1852) is regarded as Victoria's best preserved historic gold mining town. It is located north of Melbourne and close to the ski fields. Over 4 million ounces of gold were discovered in its first 14 years of existence. Additionally, it is home to 32 buildings listed by the National Trust including the prison and court house where Ned Kelly stood trial and imprisoned.
