North Terrace is the street where there are really lots to see in Adelaide,mate! As the little map shows, there�s plenty. Going from left to right, there�s the Casino (and formerly main railway centre). Then there�s the Parliament House (the Adelaide Festival Centre is located behind it). Next is Government House (the official residence of the Governor of South Australia). Then comes the excellent South Australian Museum, which is the state�s museum of natural history with geological and zoological displays (e.g the complete skeleton of a huge whale). However, its main attraction is probably its outstanding collection (world�s largest) of Aboriginal artifacts � presented in an imaginative and accessible way. Beside the museum is the equally excellent Art Gallery of South Australia which houses one of Australia�s most important collections of Australian, European and Asian art. If one likes to study for a Phd, then there�s the prestigious University of Adelaide, looking like a transplanted Oxford University from England. I�ll stick to the pubs, mate! (or is it Phd = Pubs Have Drinks ?) At the end of North Terrace is the very beautiful Adelaide Botanic Gardens, with the extraordinary Bicentennial Conservatory whose high-tech design allows the growing of tropical rain forest plants from Darwin!
