Melbourne is a sports crazy city, mate! The 1956 Olympics was held here in Melbourne. The Melbourne Cricket Ground or “MCG” is one of the world’s greatest sporting stadiums. MCG is a vast stadium with a seating capacity of 100,000. It was also here on the hallowed grounds that the first ever “Test” cricket match between England and Australia was played in the 19th century. It is also very much associated to Australian Rules Football (“footy”) being played here. A guided tour of this huge complex is a very worthwhile experience. There’s the MCC Cricket Museum, the Australian Gallery of Sport, the Olympic Museum etc etc etc!
