Brisbane is the capital of Queensland. It was founded in 1825 along Brisbane River as a prison for the worst convicts from New South Wales. Today, it is an exciting modern city with a fast-growing population of 1.5 million – Australia’s third largest. Brisbane was the site of the 1988 World Expo. It is noted for its subtropical climate and outdoor lifestyle.
